Water Based Paint Disposal
Collection of water based paint waste from decorators, contractors, facilities teams and manufacturers across the UK.

Water Based Paint Disposal Service
Water based paint is the most common paint waste we see from commercial customers. It builds up quietly: a few part-used tins after each job, returned colours that were mixed wrong, or trade stock that has passed its best.
Water based paint is often assumed to be harmless, but liquid paint should not go in general waste skips or down the drain. We arrange a collection that suits the quantity, whether that is a handful of tins from a decorator or pallets of stock from a distributor.
Who We Collect From
- Painting and decorating contractors
- Facilities and maintenance teams
- Housing associations and void teams
- Builders' merchants and paint retailers
- Paint manufacturers and tinting centres
Before We Collect
- Keep lids on and tins upright, even if they are nearly empty.
- Keep water based tins separate from gloss, varnish and solvent based products.
- Let us know if any tins are rusted, split or missing labels.
Why Water Based Paint Must Be Disposed Of Professionally
Water based paint is often seen as harmless, but liquid paint still needs to be handled as a controlled waste once it leaves your business.
Composition and contamination determine acceptance and classification. Water based paint mixed with other wastes, or containing hazardous ingredients, may need further assessment.
- 01Liquid paint is not accepted in general waste skips or bins.
- 02Pouring it down drains can pollute watercourses and breach discharge rules.
- 03Businesses have a legal duty of care for the waste they produce.
- 04Some emulsions contain biocides or additives that need correct classification.
- 05Correct paperwork shows the waste was passed to an authorised carrier.
- 06Bulk or mixed stock needs assessing so it goes to a suitable facility.

Recycling
Can You Recycle Water Based Paint?
Sometimes, yes. Clean, usable water based paint can be reprocessed into new paint or used in other products. Paint that is contaminated, mixed with other wastes or past its best usually goes for treatment instead. We assess each load and confirm the most suitable route before collection.
